Every year, the public healthcare system faces upsurge in service demand during the winter influenza season. To better prepare for the upcoming winter surge (approximately during December 2019 to April 2020), we are exploring possible measures for the GOPC PPP so as to enhance medical care and help safeguard patients’ health.

Winter Surge Quotas

With an aim to provide further support for Programme patients, each patient will be offered with two subsidised quotas to seek medical consultations from his/her PSPs when necessary during winter surge period, without deducting the 10 annual consultation quotas. Similar to the annual quotas, you will receive the same service fee of $294 for each winter surge quota.

Add-on Medications

In view of the high incidence of influenza infections during winter surge, the use of flu medications including antiviral drugs is often required for patient treatment. In order to facilitate patients to have prompt access to the drug treatment, each Programme patient, as clinically indicated, will be subsidized with up to one course of antiviral drug during the winter surge period.

Operation details of the above possible enhancements are being considered and formulated, and will be notified to you. We shall also organize a briefing session to give you details of the enhancements when ready. Your continued and indispensable support in the Programme will help us get better prepared for tackling this year’s winter surge, and to enhance care for your PPP patients.
